John “Peter” Chatman, better known as Memphis Slim, undoubtedly ranks with the greatest blues pianists of all time. Memphis Slim’s fascinating story begins in Memphis in 1915, and ends where he took his blues piano from Beale Street in Memphis to the Boulevards of Paris, where he died in 1988.
